The upcoming Lords of the End Times DLC will unlock Immortal Empires without requiring players to own the previous games.

SEGA and Creative Assembly have confirmed that Total War: Warhammer III's Lords of the End Times DLC will launch on September 24, calling it the largest expansion in the strategy series' ten-year history. The pack adds four new Legendary Lords spread across four different factions: Nagash, the Supreme Lord of the Undead, leading a brand-new playable Undead Legions faction; Boris Todbringer for the Empire; the Glottkin for the Warriors of Chaos; and Thanquol for the Skaven. Each arrives with its own roster of new units, including the scarab-like Khemric Titan, the daemonic Verminlords, the plague-ridden Putrid Blight Kings, and the war altar known as the Celestial Hurricanum.

A more flexible way to access the game?

The bigger shift for the series is how it's being sold. For the first time, buying Lords of the End Times, whether as a bundle or piece by piece, unlocks the massive Immortal Empires campaign map without requiring ownership of any base Total War: Warhammer game, turning what used to be an endgame reward for longtime fans into a potential entry point for newcomers.

On Steam, each Legendary Lord pack costs $8.99, making the full set $35.96 if bought separately. Buying the complete bundle instead drops that to $30.56 thanks to an automatic 15% discount. Alongside the paid content, Creative Assembly is shipping one of the largest free updates in the game's history. It adds Vampire Queen Neferata as a new Legendary Lord, reworks the Vampire Counts faction and Archaon the Everchosen, and introduces new End Game Scenarios along with refreshed victory conditions for existing legacy Lords.

The reveal caps off a slow rollout that started back in December 2025, when Creative Assembly first teased the DLC at Total War's 25th anniversary stream. The Empire's Boris Todbringer was confirmed in April, the Warriors of Chaos' Glottkin followed in June, and Thanquol, along with the September release date, was only locked in this week via a new cinematic trailer.

Nagash in particular has been one of the community's most requested additions for years, treated by fans as the character too significant to introduce without a suitably apocalyptic send-off. As one outlet put it, the DLC essentially lets players "kick the official outcome in the trash bin where it belongs," letting Total War fans rewrite the End Times storyline that many longtime Warhammer devotees still resent for effectively ending the old Warhammer Fantasy setting. Creative Assembly has plenty else on its plate too, with Total War: Warhammer 40,000, Total War: Medieval III, and Alien: Isolation 2 all currently in development alongside this expansion.
