As we approach the Netflix extended look for GTA 6, leaked gameplay footage has started surfacing. The internet, especially the gaming community, has been quite active over the past 24 hours, and it all started with a gameplay leak showing Jason, the main character of GTA 6, playing basketball. Since then, two more videos have surfaced, and now the leaker is threatening to leak more.

CyberLeek, the group behind all the leaked videos, posted on X that they will “leak the rest of the gameplay” if Rockstar doesn’t meet their demands. The hacker group made their demands clear through a manifesto which cites three commandments: ‘Thou Shalt Not Sell Digital Preorders,’ ‘Thou Shalt Not Sell Fake Single-Player DLC,’ and ‘Thou Shalt Preserve Single-Player Content.’

Along with the commandments, CyberLeek wants publishers to issue a public statement (Rockstar, in this case) with a commitment to “fix the harm they caused.”

An excerpt from the manifesto reads:

Publishers sell licenses and call them purchases. They ship unfinished games and call them living services. They lock content on discs and call it DLC. They kill games and keep the money. Every year anti-consumerism tightens its grip, and every year gamers get less for what they pay.

The original leak came with a link to a cryptocurrency coin, and the hackers state they are “raising funds for a secret project.” They intend to use the funds to develop infrastructure needed and boost security so that they can “withstand the inevitable corporate counterattacks.”

As for the leaks themselves, the footage seems to be legitimate, and Rockstar acted quickly to take it down. However, the hacker group's website still has links to either download or stream the clips.

Meanwhile, the Stop Killing Games movement has distanced itself from the hacker group. The movement, which started as a petition, aims to fight the shift in game publishing that has happened in recent years. It is a campaign against publishers who hold the power to stop games from being playable when they so desire, a rule that denies consumers their rights. The organization has called these leaks "destructive" and added that it "risks tarnishing the reputation of our communities and our chances to make change."
