Folks on the lookout for a capable 16-inch laptop who also happen to be on a strict budget are in for some positive news. The well-equipped HP OmniBook X Flip with a 16-inch OLED display and AMD Gorgon Point APU is now available with a sizeable 47% discount on Best Buy.

This brings the laptop down to just around $700 for a limited time, which is a pretty decent offer, especially when considering the ongoing consumer electronics pricing struggles.

Equipped with a modest but capable Ryzen AI 5 APU, 16 GB LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, and a 512 GB Gen 4 SSD, the OmniBook X Flip laptop definitely brings a solid bang for the buck for most casual laptop users.

To be more specific, the 4-core Ryzen AI 5 430 APU may appear rather timid on paper, but packs enough firepower to match the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V in multicore benchmarks. In fact, the APU is noticeably faster than the A18 Pro found in the MacBook Neo (currently $700 on Amazon), at least in synthetic benchmarks.

The Radeon 840M iGPU should be enough for low-end gaming at very modest settings and lightweight tasks such as very basic photo and video editing, but throwing any GPU-intensive workload at the paltry 4-CU iGPU will prove to be futile.

As mentioned earlier, the OmniBook X Flip laptop features a 16-inch OLED display with touch support and a resolution of 1920 x 1200. At 16 inches, the laptop's mediocre resolution allows for a rather disappointing 141 PPI, which will definitely have an adverse effect on text clarity.

That said, folks who care more about content consumption will likely be happy with the OLED panel, courtesy of true blacks and excellent contrast performance. HP also claims 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, which is definitely quite impressive at this price point.

Other notable details include WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6, 5 MP IR camera with privacy shutter, backlit keyboard, 2-in-1 functionality, as well as a mute button for the onboard mic. The I/O on offer is pretty admirable as well, including dual USB4, dual USB-A 10 Gbps, HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
