Baseus has launched a new compact charger in China, the PicoGo Pro, and at the core, it's a direct competitor to the 45W Anker Nano with smart display. Like Anker's offering, there's an "intelligent" screen that can show different charging parameters.
For instance, the display can show the connected device if the charger can detect it, and it seems that there's support for recent iPhone models only. Another notable highlight of the screen is that it can show various animations while powering devices, which, per Baseus, adds a bit of fun in the charging sessions. There's a function that shows the estimated charging time as well.
It's not just the display that's "smart" about this compact fast charger, as Baseus notes, there's an auto shut-off feature, which will cut the power when the connected iPhone reaches 100%. The built-in chipset is also said to regulate the charging speed based on the current status of the phone's battery.
Speaking of which, Baseus is marketing the PicoGo Pro as a 45W adapter, but it can offer up to 60W of power when connected to a compatible laptop (10-feet 100W Anker cable curr. $9.99 on Amazon). However, the 60W fast charging mode will last for around 6 minutes, and given the small form factor, the charger can get warm during this session.
Even though it may not be able to detect all models connected to it, the fast charger can power a wide range of devices. Precisely, it's compatible with major charging protocols, including UFCS, QC3.0, PD3.2, PPS, AVS, and FCP.
Other highlights of the charger include a sleek and premium design, a single USB-C on the side instead of the top, and a foldable plug that makes it easy to carry. In China, the Baseus PicoGo Pro with the model number AE22 costs CNY 129, around $19. There's no word on the international availability yet, but the company is expected to soon launch it globally.
