Last December, CRKD announced the Nitro Deck 2 controller for the Nintendo Switch 2, which is also backward compatible with the original Switch and Switch OLED. Eight months after its announcement, the controller finally has a shipping date.

When the controller was first announced, CRKD said it was scheduled to begin shipping in Spring of 2026, but that didn't happen. Then in May 2026, CRKD shared a statement that said the controller would be released in July 2026. Sadly, the Nitro Deck 2 missed that shipping deadline, too. The delays caused rival controller, the Abxylute N6 (available on Amazon for $53.99) to beat it to store shelves.

Now, an official statement posted on X says the Nitro Deck 2 will begin shipping next week. While CRKD didn't specify the exact date, Amazon has been gracious enough to do so. According to the pre-order page on Amazon for the Nitro Deck 2, the controller will be released on August 28.

Ahead of its release, interested buyers can still pre-order it in White, Pal Grey, and Smoke Black for $99.99 on Amazon. It is also available in the aforementioned colors on the CRKD website, in addition to the LRG (Limited Run Games) Fusion limited edition that was first announced in late December 2025.

The Nitro Deck 2 is a grip controller that replaces the Joy-Con controllers of the Switch/Switch 2 handheld. It connects wirelessly to the Switch 2 but comes with adapters for a USB connection. It can also be used as a wireless or wired controller with a phone, tablet, PC, and smart TV.

The controller has four customizable back buttons, digital triggers, two extra sholder buttons, and drift-free thumbsticks with adjustable resistance and that use CRKD's CaptiStick Technology. It also features an integrated metal kickstand and is compatible with the CRKD mobile app.
