Ozlo has launched the second generation of its sleep-focused earbuds, expanding their role beyond overnight audio with movement, breathing, and bedroom-condition tracking.
Sleepbuds 2 use in-ear sensors to monitor movement and breathing, while the charging case measures sound, light, and temperature. Ozlo combines the data in its Sleep Patterns feature to estimate sleep duration and identify environmental conditions that may contribute to disruptions.
The tracking technology is an extension of features Ozlo introduced in beta for its original Sleepbuds. With the second-generation launch, Sleep Patterns is becoming a standard feature, although Ozlo has not released clinical validation comparing its measurements with established sleep-monitoring methods.
The $279 earbuds continue to use sound masking in place of active noise cancellation. Users can stream audio before automatically transitioning to built-in masking sounds after falling asleep. Sleep Shield prevents calls, notifications, and other phone audio from interrupting playback.
Battery life has increased from 10 to as much as 14 hours, while the charging case supplies another two to three charges. Ozlo also redesigned the Bluetooth antennas after connectivity proved to be a weak point in the original product.
Ozlo was founded in 2022 by former Bose engineers N.B. Patil, Brian Mulcahey, and Charlie Taylor, who had worked on Bose’s discontinued Sleepbuds line. The startup revived the concept in 2024 and says it has since sold its earbuds to more than 200,000 customers.
Sleepbuds 2 remain a consumer wellness device, but the expanded tracking features show Ozlo pursuing a larger role in the growing market for technology that monitors sleep outside a clinical setting.
