Intel today released the Compute Runtime 26.31.39395.13 open-source GPU compute stack update for Windows and Linux systems. Big ongoing trends for the Intel Compute Runtime continue to be preparing for upcoming Crescent Island and Nova Lake Xe3P graphics hardware as well as building out their new OpenCL LEO driver.
Intel software engineers continue spending a lot of time ensuring their Crescent Island support is in order for that next-gen enterprise AI inference accelerator. With today's Compute Runtime they have now synced against several more Crescent Island device IDs suggesting the multiple SKUs coming, support for the media handle with Crescent Island, enabling shared system memory (unified system memory) by default, and other improvements. There are also various refinements around the Xe3P integrated graphics coming with Nova Lake processors.
Introduced earlier this year in the Compute Runtime is the experimental LEO implementation for building off a new OpenCL implementation built atop the Level Zero APIs. Succeeding Compute Runtime updates have continued building LEO and that is again the case with this new release. LEO remains experimental but continues becoming more featureful as an alternative to their direct hardware OpenCL 3.0 driver.
The Compute Runtime update also tacks on other new features like support for the cl_intel_bfloat16_conversions extension and enabling the Linux kernel mode driver wait-for-event-host synchronization.
