Taylor & Francis, a leading knowledge publisher, has announced a new partnership with OA Switchboard, a collaborative initiative which simplifies the sharing of scholarly communications metadata and increases the visibility of new publications.

Taylor & Francis will share standardized metadata for all new journal articles, regardless of their open access (OA) status. This includes a wealth of detail about each article, including its title and publication dates, the names and affiliations of authors, funding information, journal title and more.

The integration means participating institutions and funding bodies will receive automated real-time notifications when their researchers and grantees publish in a Taylor & Francis, Routledge or Dove Medical Press journal. These alerts are a valuable tool for research offices, libraries, and funders, providing them with a rich overview of their publishing output, simplifying administration, and making it easier for them to support authors with OA funding and policy compliance.

“We are very pleased to welcome Taylor & Francis to the OA Switchboard network,” said Yvonne Campfens, Executive Director, OA Switchboard. “By sharing standardized publication metadata through the Switchboard, Taylor & Francis is helping advance a more connected and transparent ecosystem that benefits publishers, institutions, and funders.”

Ashok Subramanian, Chief Technology Officer at Taylor & Francis, added: “OA Switchboard shows what is possible when different parts of the scholarly communications community work together to ensure all partners have the information they need. Metadata sharing is especially important for powering the growth of OA, equipping institutions, funders and their researchers to take advantage of OA opportunities and maximize the reach and impact of their research. We are already exploring with OA Switchboard options for further expanding our partnership.”
