After careful consideration, we’ve decided to close the Revive Adserver Community Forum at the end of May 2026.

Over the past 24 months, we noticed that the server we’ve been using for the forum was getting more and more heavily used, while we didn’t notice a significant increase in new posts or responses. We also noticed that there was a constant barrage of bots attempting to exploit all sorts of software weaknesses, 99% of which for software that wasn’t even on the server.

In late 2024, we started using the Cloudflare Managed Challenge module for the forum specifically, and immediately the load on the server dropped to an almost negligible level. At the same time, less than 1% of all attempted visits to the site were able to resolve the managed challenge, meaning that more than 99% of attempts to access the forum were initiated by some sort of bot or other non-human traffic.

The software being used to run the forum, an application called Invision Powerboard, is rather expensive. We have to pay a renewal fee for the license every 6 months. Plus we have to constantly manage, maintain and monitor the server, the operating system, and the forum software, and we have to moderate the forum when it is being used by actual humans.

All of the observations listed above have brought us to the conclusion that it no longer makes sense to continue offering the Community Forum.

Over the coming days, we’ll change the settings on the forum so that it will become “read-only”. We’ll also remove the option to sign up as a new member. Any and all existing content will continue to be accessible until the end of May 2026.

On May 29, 2026, the day our current license term ends, the server that we use to host the forum will be switched off.
