Three things to watch for in the Jets’ preseason game against the Steelers on Friday night in Pittsburgh:

1. We thought we were going to get to see the first-team offense out there last week, then came the last-minute news that Geno Smith was not playing.

Smith is playing in this one, and we’ll see the starting offense (minus Breece Hall).

It has not been a smooth camp for Smith and the offense, so this will be interesting to watch.

The Steelers defense is going to be basic, but Aaron Glenn and Jets fans would feel better if the offense marched down the field on them.

2. The biggest news of the week was Hall injuring his groin.

The Jets expect him to return for Week 1, but I’ll be curious to see how Braelon Allen looks.

He broke off a 31-yard touchdown run last week that was a highlight play.

Now, he’ll get a heavier workload. If the Jets can have an impact duo of Hall and Allen, that would do wonders for their offense.

3. It has been a hotly contested competition between Jason Sanders and Cade York for the kicking job.

It has been back and forth all summer.

Last week, York made two field goals and Sanders made one in the preseason opener.

The longest was 47 yards by Sanders. It would be nice to see them each get challenged with a long one. That has been an issue in practice.
