There have been several textbooks about medical photography published since the mid-20th century, all of which dealt with subjects which are no longer relevant, and none covers the techniques and workflow involved with digital technology. A proposal was therefore put to Focal Press for a completely new textbook covering the full range of clinical photography and encompassing a fully digital workflow. This paper discusses previous textbooks and describes the process for this modern publication, edited by three professional clinical photographers, now available world-wide and using the print-on-demand (PoD) process.
