Gabriel Jesus tuned in to his former side Manchester City's penalty shootout on Wednesday evening - leaving Arsenal fans fuming.

The Gunners were eliminated from the Champions League at the quarter-final stage after a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in Germany.

Brazilian forward Jesus, who was on the books at Man City from 2017 until his 2022 move to the Emirates, later watched on with Arsenal staff as his former team took on Real Madrid in a shootout to decide who would face Bayern in the semi-finals.

While Jesus's international teammate Ederson scored a penalty, the goalkeeper was unable to keep the visitors from scoring four, whilst Man City only managed three, denying Pep Guardiola's side the chance to defend their Champions League crown.

The 27-year-old Brazilian joined millions around Europe tuning in for the dramatic finale to the Manchester City and Real Madrid clash, as shown in a clip posted to social media by TNT Sports, but his actions left Arsenal fans upset that he had quickly turned his attentions away from their own tournament exit.

The Brazilian was part of the Arsenal team that had exited the Champions League earlier on

One Gunners supporter wrote on X (fka Twitter): 'This is what is wrong. Instead of focusing on YOU and your FOUR irrelevant goals all season you are watching what your ex is doing. Smh. Get this donkey out my club man.'

Another shared some head in hands emojis as they said: 'Ah GJ. This was right after we got eliminated.

'Do this guys even care Did they ever believe we could beat Bayern?'

'A lot of people won’t have any problem with this, but just after you lost one of the most important matches of our season you need to watch your old team play live? Not even wait to see the highlights in the team bus?' one fan fumed.

'The coaching staff I am ok but not our players… come on!'

Even fans of other clubs felt that Jesus had done Arsenal a disservice by viewing the end of the Man City game.

One fan of Manchester United, whose own Champions League journey ended at the group stage, wrote: 'I will be mad if a united player did this after losing one of the biggest match of the season.'

With a disappointed face emoji, they added: 'Supporting your former team.. That you still in competition with for another cup. No ways'.

Some wondered whether there was too much being read into the short clip, with one tweeting: 'Watching someone watch something... state of it', and another replied to the video saying: 'That’s got to be one of the most boring tweets of ALL time.'

He was a Manchester City player from 2017 until 2022 before moving to the Emirates

Arsenal fans were quick to slam him for his decision to watch his former team-mates in action

Even supporters of other clubs were not impressed with Gabriel Jesus for watching the finale

Not everyone read into the importance of the clip that was posted on Thursday morning

After losing ground in the Premier League title race to Manchester City at the weekend with their defeat to Aston Villa, Arsenal will look to return to winning ways against Wolves on Saturday evening.

Man City's next outing is an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea on Saturday, before their league campaign continues with away games against Brighton and Nottingham Forest.
