Image: Push SquareThe phrase "gone gold" doesn't mean all that much in the year 2026, but it still represents a significant milestone in a game's development — and three big PS5 titles have recently announced they've hit it.
First up, Remedy Entertainment announced it reached gold status with Control Resonant a couple of days ago:
The action RPG is a sequel to 2019's Control. Instead of playing as Jesse Faden exploring the mysterious Oldest House, you play as her brother, Dylan, who was previously incarcerated there and now finds himself on the outside, along with a bunch of other strange entities.
Alongside announcing it's gone gold, Remedy also revealed it's had to delay the physical launch, which you can read more about through the link. The digital release is still locked in for 24th September.

Next up is Valor Mortis, the first-person Souls-like RPG from One More Level, the makers of Ghostrunner. The announcement that it's gone gold came yesterday:
Valor Mortis is a tough first-person action game that smashes together Napoleonic alt-history with supernatural powers, and the result is pretty unique. You'll use your sword, sidearm, and abilities like throwing fire to fight back against corrupted enemies.
It's not coming out until 13th October, so the developer has a nearly two-month window in which to polish the game up for a day one update.
Finally, today (20th August), it was announced that Star Wars: Galactic Racer has also gone gold:
This game, from former Burnout and Need for Speed developers, is a racing game set in George Lucas' galaxy far, far away. It's doing some really interesting stuff, such as a roguelike campaign, a surprising focus on story, and a variety of vehicle types — including pod racers.
It's due out on 6th October, meaning it has a lengthy road to release, similar to Valor Mortis, which hopefully means its launch will be a smooth one.
The release schedule between now and, well, GTA 6 is pretty stacked, but it seems many teams are more or less ready to roll.
