Serbian President Vucic Says He Will Step Down, Call Early Elections

At a pro-government rally on June 27, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he intends to resign soon and call early presidential and parliamentary elections, without giving a specific date. A mass student-led protest movement has been demanding snap elections since November 2024, when the deadly collapse of a train station roof in Novi Sad prompted accusations of government corruption and negligence.
