Adults who enjoy singing or have fond memories of participating in a school, church or community choir will have an opportunity to return to choral music when the Bartlett Area Chorus begins its new season Aug. 27.

The non-audition choir, founded in 1990, welcomes anyone age 18 and older who is willing to commit to weekly two-hour rehearsals. Members learn a variety of challenging and entertaining musical selections while working together to prepare performances for the community.

The new season begins Thursday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. at Bartlett United Methodist Church, 5676 Stage Road. A meet-and-greet will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The chorus welcomes sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. Last season, members ranged in age from 23 to 82.

The group is directed by Donia Rachelle Wade, with Karen Thackrey Strawhecker serving as accompanist. The chorus said both work with members to help them learn their music while keeping rehearsals enjoyable.

Organizers say the chorus offers more than an opportunity to sing. Members work together to create music for the community while building friendships and enjoying the camaraderie of a group setting.
