After being released in Asphalt, Faded Black and Oatmeal colorways over the summer, Vans’ smash success Old Skool 36 Souvenir will return once again Thursday, this time in a new Navy Blue rendition.

Teased alongside the aforementioned three colorways in June, the Navy Blue style straggles behind with a launch that arrives just in time for back-to-school season. Like the other Souvenir styles, the Navy Blue pair retains all of the unique elements that have made the series a hit thus far including a bouclé-textured Sidestripe logo, a variety of custom enamel pins, metal hardware and distressed details. Separating the upcoming style from previously released pairs is its Navy Blue canvas and leather upper, along with the multicolor blend of shades used on the bouclé stripe.

While Vans’ initial Old Skool 36 Souvenir releases were quite limited, the VF Corp. owned-and-operated skate brand was quick to accommodate demand for the style by increasing supply on subsequent drops. Thursday’s Navy Blue style looks like it will continue the trend of being more widely allocated with availability from Foot Locker and other third-party retailers.

Taking inspiration from Chanel’s On the Pavements messenger bag, the Souvenir concept was created by former Vans designer Greg Betty, who has since gone on to work on apparel for Nike, Inc.’s Jordan Brand. And while it looks as though the Souvenir range may be taking a break soon, the brand’s designer-inspired riffs will continue with styles including new Charms Authentics looks which use the Chanel La Habana bag as their muse. 

The Vans Old Skool 36 Souvenir Navy Blue will be released Thursday for $125 from vans.com and select retailers. The style code for the Navy Blue colorway is VN000E8VNVY.
