Wayne State University is joining JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services as a Tier 1 participant, joining a growing global community committed to expanding access to distinctive materials.

Through JSTOR Stewardship, Wayne State can share their digital collections on JSTOR, host audio and video, and generate transcripts to support accessibility. The platform also provides usage analytics and supports indexing in major search engines and library discovery services.

As part of their transition to JSTOR, the library team will partner with JSTOR’s professional migration services to move art and art history collections from an existing LUNA environment. These materials include visual resources, museum-partner content, works by Michigan and regional artists, and image collections developed for teaching.

“Moving our collections to JSTOR is a meaningful first step toward a longer-term strategy for digital collections management, access, and preservation,” said Maria Nuccilli, Director of Digital Strategy at Wayne State. “We believe this will create a more intuitive experience for students and faculty.”

“The Wayne State team has a clear long-term vision for their digital collections,” said Jess Clemons, Director of Business Development, JSTOR Stewardship. “By joining JSTOR Stewardship, they’re setting themselves up for sustained success in access, preservation, and discovery.”

Founded in 1868 and located in Detroit, Wayne State University is Michigan’s only public urban research university. Nearly 24,000 undergraduate and graduate students study across its 13 schools and colleges, making it the state’s third-largest university.
