Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut is deepening its work with JSTOR’s digital collections ecosystem by joining the Tier 3 charter program of JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services.

As a long-time participant in JSTOR’s services for digital collections, Trinity already uses the integrated Stewardship platform to manage, preserve, and share its materials. Through the Trinity College Digital Repository on JSTOR, the college provides open access to more than 28,000 items, including scholarly and creative works by Trinity College community members, digitized materials from the College Archives and Watkinson Library Special Collections, and the Lloyd Best Institute of the Caribbean Archive, a collaborative digitization project that shares materials documenting Best’s contributions to Caribbean history, political thought, economics, and culture.

Through the Tier 3 charter program, Trinity will expand this work with access to JSTOR Seeklight for AI-assisted collections processing, enabling library and archives staff to generate draft metadata and transcripts at scale while maintaining expert oversight. As a charter participant, Trinity will also collaborate with JSTOR and peer institutions to shape JSTOR Seeklight through feedback, working groups, and shared practice. It will also be eligible for dedicated funding to support digitization of its collections.

Trinity is also one of six Boston Library Consortium (BLC) members participating in JSTOR Stewardship through the BLC’s Digital Stewardship Services Community of Interest.

“JSTOR’s services have long played a central role in our digital collections strategy,” said Amanda Matava, Digital Archivist at Trinity. “With JSTOR Seeklight, we can further scale access to Trinity’s digital materials while supporting the long-term preservation of our institutional record.”

“For years, Trinity has made tremendous strategic use of JSTOR’s stewardship services,” said Jess Clemons, Director of Business Development, JSTOR Stewardship. “They’ll bring deep experience and thoughtful leadership to the charter community, and to their use of JSTOR Seeklight.”

Trinity College is a private, coeducational, non-profit, non-sectarian school of liberal arts and sciences founded in 1823. Located in Hartford, Connecticut, the college enrolls more than 2,100 full-time undergraduates from 43 states and 91 countries and offers more than 50 majors.
