DescriptionThis is a hands-on workshop where participants learn to use GPG for email encryption, facilitated by the Free Software Foundation (FSF). Participants will help improve the FSF email self-d efense guide through real-time feedback. By the end of the workshop, you will not only be able to send encrypted email to friends and family, but also help teach others the skills of email self-defense and protecting yourself from bulk surveillance.

Speaker biosGreg Farough is the campaigns manager of the Free Software Foundation, the organization that holds copyright on the GNU operating system and which has fought for computer user freedom since its founding in 1985.
Heshan de Silva-Weeramuni has used free software for over two decades, and understands that free software helps to protect so many other basic rights. Heshan has worked in a number of different fields and holds degrees from Marlboro College and the New School for Social Research. Heshan is a public transit world record holder, has visited both salt cathedrals, and was once almost an entire Olympic team.
