Sherif Lanre has hit out at Love Island for not showing his own exit story in last year's series after watching Ollie Williams' departure unfold on Wednesday night. 

The islander, 20, was removed allegedly because of an inappropriate incident with Molly-Mae Hague at the start of the 2019 series, with bosses glossing over his exit. 

But Sherif took to Twitter in anger after a segment of Wednesday's show showed Ollie, 23, telling the islanders he must leave as he is still in love with his ex.

The semi-professional rugby player wrote on Twitter: 'Where was my god d*mn exit story!!!!!!!! I could have made one up #loveisland'. 

In a follow-up Tweet, Sherif continued: 'My turtle unexpectedly came out of hibernation and I need to go home and care for him.'  

Sherif garnered 17,700 likes at the time of publication, with speculation mounting Ollie's departure story was a cover-up over the backlash he received from being accused of being a trophy hunter. 

Fans have been unconvinced by Ollie's reasoning for leaving the villa, with many rushing to Twitter to claim that it is a 'cover up' by ITV bosses. 

Photos surfaced over the weekend of him posing with various dead carcasses, with guns resting against the corpses to promote his hunting business.

This led to a furious reaction and an online petition to get him removed from the island. 

Two days later, it was announced that Ollie has quit the ITV2 series when he said in a statement the show made him realise he was still in love with his ex, Laura Nofer, 23. 

Leading the reaction he may have been 'pushed' to leave the show after hitting back at a fan on social media was former Love Island star, Olivia Attwood.  

One viewer tweeted: 'Tbf, fair play to Ollie. Could've stayed, got his 1m insta followers, ended the relationship and run back to his ex (see Olivia Attwood), but didn't.

'I know some things he's done is wrong but I think he's made a good decision here. #LoveIsland.'  

Olivia replied: '1. I didn't run.. I walked (briskly) but still walked.

'2. If you believe that is the real reason he left the villa then you probably believe in Father Christmas too.'  

Meanwhile The Apprentice star Luisa Zissman, 32, made it clear she believes ITV 'pushed him' to leave, suggesting both parties are now 'saving face'.

'There is a GOD sometimes in life, good things do happen. This guy never deserved any airtime', the animal-loving star wrote.
