Auto-Ordnance has introduced the T1SB50DH, a semi-automatic short-barreled rifle built in the United States and chambered in .45 ACP. The firearm combines Prohibition-era styling with precision-machined construction, featuring a frame and receiver cut from solid steel with a blued finish. The overall length measures 35 inches with an unloaded weight of 12 pounds, so get ready to hit the gym before the range session.
The barrel is a 10.5-inch finned design fitted with a traditional Cutts compensator, bringing the total barrel length to 12.5 inches. The rifle is styled with genuine American walnut furniture consisting of a fixed buttstock, ergonomic pistol grip, and horizontal forearm. Sighting equipment includes a blade front sight and an open adjustable rear sight. There’s no Picatinny rail in sight - how dare you!
The T1SB50DH arrives equipped with both a 50-round drum and a 20-round stick magazine. Semi-automatic action fires .45 ACP ammunition. The T1SB50DH is available through Auto-Ordnance distribution channels.
Auto-Ordnance T1SB50DH Specifications:
At last, the time has come to reveal the price. With an MSRP of $3,086, it sits quite high, but for those who even consider buying something that comes with a 50-round magazine of .45 ACP, sticker shock probably ceased being relevant several impulse purchases ago.
When you're looking at the Thompson platform in 2026, what are your overall thoughts?

"especially one that will be illegal again when Congress and White House change parties."
Have we ever seen firearms become "illegal" when administrations changed? (You could argue that bump stocks were illegalized, but A) those are not firearms; and B) that was done mid-administration -- when a Republican President was in office, and Congress was split, and either way it had nothing to do with Congress).
I'm asking this mostly because frankly I see a lot of kneejerk assumptions about what happens under Republican administrations vs Democratic administrations, but while I would argue that Trump Term 2.0 has been quite good to gun owners (from a 2nd amendment perspective, at least; I'll ignore all the other stuff, because this is "guns not politics,") that's largely an exception, and Trump Term 1.0 was worse for gun owners than, say, Obama Term 1.0, which gave us loaded carry in national parks.
Well, I wasn't around in 1934 when Congress and the White House banned SBRs, SBSs, and full-autos (using John Dillinger as an excuse), but I was around in 1968 when Congress and the White Houe banned the importation of small pistols (that's why the PPK/S exists) and also banned mail-order and interstate sales (using Lee Harvey Oswald as an excuse). So yeah, I have seen it. And I don't think it's too far-fetched for a future politician to claim the NFA kept us safe from the scourge of SBRs for 92 years, so we need to reinstate it. For the children, of course.
And I wasn't really making a political statement, till you kind of forced me to; I was just saying that SBRs are and will continue to be on shaky legal ground, and I'm not going to invest 3 grand to potentially give myself trouble down the road. If you want to, that's your right.

Sure it looks cool, but $3100 for a semi-auto only that weighs 12 pounds? Unless someone makes an FRT for it, there's cheaper ways to get an arm workout in.
