Gareth Bale has made his first significant move since hanging up his boots, linking up with NBA icon Stephen Curry.

Bale brought his 17-year footballing career to an end last year, leaving the game with a strong claim to being the greatest British player of all time.

It was no secret that Bale had a huge passion for golf during his playing days with fans often joking that he cared about the sport more than football. 

And he has decided to channel more of his energy into the game, becoming an ambassador for Curry's 'Underrated Golf'.

Golden State Warriors star Curry has also been passionate about golf since a young age with Underrated aiming to open up the game to young people from diverse communities.

Curry launched the initiative in the US two years ago and it is now heading for Europe, starting in Surrey between May 29-31.

Bale teased that he would be working with Curry after the two met up following the a clash between Curry's Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this month.

Bale posted a picture of himself on the court with Curry and a signed jersey, writing: 'what a night watching these guys play up close. Great to see you [Stephen Curry]. Excited for what's to come!'

Bale then spoke in more detail about the tour in a press release.

As reported by The Mirror, he said: 'It's an honour to join Stephen Curry and his Underrated Golf European Tour as ambassador as they expand their presence internationally this year.

'I've admired the work the tour has done in the U.S. to grow the game of golf, a sport I love and believe in the vast opportunities it provides.

'My role as an ambassador allows me to fuse my enthusiasm for the sport with my passion for creating multi-faced sports opportunities for youth within Wales, and I look forward to seeing the young athletes' skills when they step out on the greens at Walton Heath this May.'
