SAS Australia host Ant Middleton has said that the latest series of the survival program is 'brutal'. 

It will be set in the Middle East, and while Ant wouldn't confirm where exactly, he said it's the toughest season yet. 

The competitive survival show, which is due to come out later this year on Channel Seven, is known for hosting controversial figures.

Adventurer Ant said there are some 'very interesting' characters in the upcoming series.  

Speaking on Nova's Fitzy & Wippa with Katie Richie earlier this week, the SAS host said: 'It is brutal, there are some very interesting characters on this one, more so the psychological side of how people work.

'There is some real psychological undoings and rebuildings.

'A couple of people wanted to quit quite early and I said "No, I'm not done with you."' 

Fitzy then joked that Kate, who is a former Home And Away star, is dying to take part in SAS Australia. 

The radio host laughed and said she isn't, adding: 'But, it's one of those shows that when the first series started the talk ability around whether people could do it [was huge]. 

'I got text messages from my dad who is an ex-police man saying: "I reckon you can do this Kate."' 

While some contestants of the upcoming season have been released, Channel 7 have not confirmed an air date, but it is expected to be in September or October. 

The 2023 series will see boxer Anthony Mundine, former Roosters captain Boyd Cordner and Olympian Peter Bol star, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.

Craig McLachlan has already been announced as the lead star of the series after being found not guilty of sexual misconduct.

Anthony Mundine, one of Australia's most well-known sports stars and one of the country's most celebrated boxers is likewise appearing. 

Meanwhile, middle-distance runner Peter Bol, who finished fourth in the 800m at the last Olympics, is another big name on the series.
