The Faculty of Journalism, Lomonosov Moscow State University proceeds with Topical seminar meetings, a series of online seminars featuring well-known speakers, both Russian and international. The oncoming Topical seminar is scheduled for April 20th, 3 pm MSK. During the meeting, topical issues related to digital health information sharing will be under discussion.

The first talk will be «Apomediation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Risks and Transformations in Health Information Intermediation». It will be delivered by Dr. Bárbara Castillo-Abdul, an Associate Professor at the University of Design, Innovation and Technology (UDIT, Spain), where she serves as director of the Research Group Innovation and Digital Transformation in Communication (GITDCom). Her research is devoted to the relevant issue of how artificial intelligence is reshaping the concept of "apomediation", examining the dual nature of AI in health contexts, paying attention to both the risks and the transformative potential of these technologies. Dr. Bárbara Castillo-Abdul holds a PhD in Social and Legal Sciences from Rey Juan Carlos University (Spain) and a PhD in Communication from University of Huelva (Spain). She is also a Visiting Researcher at the University of Sharjah (UAE).

The second speaker will be Dr. Varvara Kazhberova, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Digital Journalism and a Researcher at the Problem Research Laboratory for the Comprehensive Study of Current Journalism Issues at the Faculty of Journalism, Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia). She is an author of papers published in leading Russian academic journals. Her research delves into the features and trends of Russian media coverage of public health institutions and healthy lifestyle topics. She also undertakes a comprehensive exploration of the contemporary issues of mass media within the Russian context, such as the formation of leading thematic agendas in Russian media and the shifting landscape of professional ethics and core values of journalists in the modern digitalized era. In her talk «Digital Risks of Media Communication in the Field of Human and Social Health: Some Aspects» she will address the growing digital risks associated with media communication, examining specifics and effects of digital media coverage within the stated field.

Topical seminars are of utmost importance both for the integration of national research studies into the international academic environment, and for the conceptualization of distinctive features of Russian media studies.
