7. Alabama State House Education Trust Fund Chairman State Rep. Danny Garrett (R-Trussville) downplayed the potential Choose Act lawsuit being referenced by outgoing Huntsville School Board Member Andrea Alvarez as “saber rattling” while defending the school choice legislation that expands options for Alabama families.

6. A total of $43.8 million was spent across Alabama’s three biggest 2026 runoff races as candidates and outside groups poured massive resources into the high-stakes contests for U.S. Senate, attorney general, and lieutenant governor, with almost $27 million being spent in the U.S. Senate race.

Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) and Governor-elect National Championship-winning Coach U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) differed on a massive housing bill with Tuberville calling it a “blank check for illegals” while Britt disputed that claim and said, “The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act appropriates zero dollars and maintains that illegal aliens are not eligible for HUD housing assistance,” as the legislation sits on President Donald Trump’s desk as a pawn in the push to get the Save America Act passed.
