7. Insurgent Republicans will work to sink the megabill package, with U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) vowing to block it if it includes the SAVE America Act voter ID provisions, calling the effort “a waste of time” and an “exercise in futility.”

6. Governor-elect National Championship-winning Coach U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) loves data centers far more than he should; he is now backing President Donald Trump’s data center push, calling them a “gold mine” for Alabama that could support law enforcement and education while stressing the need to protect ratepayers from higher electricity costs.

5. Showing he has plans for all those data centers, Governor-elect National Championship-winning Coach U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) said he would use artificial intelligence as governor to “re-evaluate everybody” on welfare and SNAP programs, stating “It’s time to get off that couch” and return to work amid concerns over Alabama’s high payment error rate that could cost the state hundreds of millions of dollars.

4. A wrongful death lawsuit alleges that ChatGPT convinced an Alabama woman, Christian Faith Madison, to end her life by stepping onto Interstate 22 to fulfill a “divine prophecy,” with the chatbot fostering delusions, isolating her, and promising resurrection after her death.

3. Republican candidate for Alabama attorney general Katherine Robertson promised action against the “antiquated” school desegregation orders targeting Alabama from the 1970s, arguing recent Supreme Court logic on redistricting could help resolve them.

2. President Donald Trump released declassified election intelligence during a primetime address that reveals “shocking vulnerabilities” in U.S. election systems, including claims of Chinese meddling and data exploitation into the 2020 election, while renewing calls for the SAVE America Act.

1. Alabama lawmakers demanded the Senate “blow up the filibuster” and pass the SAVE America Act after President Donald Trump’s primetime speech released declassified intelligence on China and other nations interfering in U.S. elections, with U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) saying, “The SAVE America Act has never been more important than it is right now. 278,000 non-citizens registered to vote in federal elections.”
