Ericsson and Zain Jordan deepen their long-term partnership, entering a new phase of a major Business Support Systems (BSS) transformation project.
Ericsson and Zain Jordan have announced the next stage of their long-standing partnership to modernise Zain Jordan’s Business Support Systems (BSS), supporting the operator’s digital transformation and preparing its IT infrastructure for the requirements of the 5G era.
The expanded agreement extends the companies’ collaboration to Zain Jordan’s postpaid business, alongside its existing operations, creating opportunities for new revenue streams across both segments. The initiative is designed to establish a more flexible, scalable and agile digital ecosystem while enabling the operator to introduce innovative and personalised services more efficiently.
As part of the modernisation programme, Zain Jordan will upgrade its BSS architecture through Ericsson’s cloud-native portfolio. This includes moving Ericsson Billing to Red Hat OpenShift within Zain Jordan’s private cloud environment, with the aim of improving scalability, efficiency and speed while supporting more agile 5G monetisation.
The project will also introduce Ericsson’s Telco DataOps Platform to provide real-time data streaming and insights. The platform is expected to support proactive customer experience management, network optimisation and data-driven decision-making, while creating a foundation for future AI-enabled autonomous network capabilities.
For the postpaid business, Ericsson will implement catalog and order management capabilities, allowing Zain Jordan to adopt a catalog-driven operating model. This is intended to accelerate the development and launch of new products and offers.
Wessam Abu Hashhash, Chief Technology and Digital Innovation Officer, said: “This next phase of our BSS transformation with Ericsson marks a strategic milestone in Zain Jordan’s ongoing digital evolution. By advancing our IT stack to a cloud-native, data-driven architecture, we are strengthening our ability to design and deliver more innovative, agile, and personalised digital services. This transformation will further elevate the customer experience while reinforcing our leadership in the digital services landscape and establishing a future-ready foundation to unlock the full potential of the 5G era.”
Ahsan Quaderi, Country Manager and Head of Sales, Ericsson Jordan, added: “We are proud to deepen our long-standing partnership with Zain Jordan. With these new and upgraded elements of our cloud-native BSS portfolio, we are supporting Zain Jordan’s ambitions to drive outcomes-based advancements in its business through the deployment of more agile, efficient, and scalable technology. This collaboration underscores our commitment to Zain Jordan’s success and our shared vision of creating a more connected and dynamic digital future for the Kingdom.”
The latest agreement marks another step in Zain Jordan’s transition towards a cloud-native IT environment. By adopting Ericsson’s advanced BSS capabilities, the operator aims to strengthen its existing services while establishing a future-ready platform for next-generation connectivity, differentiated 5G services, new revenue opportunities and enhanced digital experiences for millions of subscribers.
