The Computational Cardiovascular Science Team was awarded two prizes at this year’s Computing in Cardiology conference, held in Boston, USA.

The poster, presented by Ana Michole, was on "Electrographic abnormalities in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy" and was awarded the Best Poster Presentation Prize. Ana is a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellow working with Dr Blanca Rodriguez, a Welcome Trust Senior Research Fellow in Basic Biomedical Sciences.

Anna Muszkiewicz's paper, on "Constructing human atrial electrophysiological models mimicking a patient-specific cell group" won the Honourable Mention in the Young Investigation Award.  Anna is a DPhil student working with Dr Alfonso Bueno Orovio, a Senior Researcher, Prof Barbara Casadei from Cardiovascular Medicine and Professor Blanca Rodriguez.

The two studies are a collaboration between the Computational Cardiovascular Science team in the Department and cardiologists at the John Radcliffe Hospital, within the British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence in Oxford.

Computing in Cardiology is an annual conference which has been held since 1974 in various locations across the globe, and its intentions are to bring together those working in Computing and Cardiology, including medicine, computer science, physics and engineering. There are around 200 – 250 papers presented every year, and lasts for three days.
