Eight students from the Centre for Doctoral Training in Cyber Security took part in the DiploHack on 26-27 March, a competition between three US and three European universities. Like a “hackathon” for policy-making, the Oxford team had two days to create and present a solution to a cyber-attack on the fictional country Zambonia. Using the Oxford Cyber Capacity Maturity Model as inspiration, the team offered a broad economic and social development solution that brought cyber security into general policy making. Although the University of Maryland won the event, our team say they thoroughly enjoyed the process and came out with great experience.
