Department of Computer Science Verification and Control Professor Alessandro Abate has been named 2024 Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).  

With over 400,000 members in more than 160 countries, IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organisation dedicated to advancing technology.

A Fellowship represents the highest grade of membership in the IEEE, with less than 0.1% of voting members are selected annually for this member grade elevation.

It is recognised by the research and technical community as an honour and a career achievement.    

The official citation recognises Alessandro for his contributions to ‘verification and control of stochastic hybrid systems'. These are mathematical models encompassing both continuous and discrete components, as well as uncertainty, which are core to industrially-relevant applications, such as cyber-physical systems.
