NOA Initiative Marks Conclusion at Brussels Event with EU Jewish Organizations

BRUSSELS – A consortium of EU-based Jewish organizations gathered in Brussels on Tuesday to mark the conclusion of the multi-year Networks Overcoming Antisemitism (NOA) initiative. The project, co-financed by the European Commission, brought together Jewish community representatives, policymakers and civil society stakeholders to reflect on recent successes and review national action plans to address anti-Jewish hatred in all its forms.

The initiative, which began in 2023, served as (1) a benchmarking tool to aid in the development and implementation of National Action Plans through the establishment of a reporting system; (2) equipped educators across sectors—including public authorities, community and cultural institutions, and youth work—with training and teaching tools to counter antisemitic prejudice effectively; (3) highlighted Jewish contributions to an inclusive Europe through a systematic and interactive communications strategy that improves and expands on existing NOA tools.

Following opening remarks by WJC’s Chief Operating Officer John Malkinson, the organization’s Director of European Affairs Dany Levin Prist underscored the need for strong cooperation between government institutions and Jewish communities, spotlighting the network’s National Report Cards, a critical advocacy tool for EU member states to develop and implement policies that enable Jewish life to thrive.

In addition to the World Jewish Congress (WJC), consortium members included the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS), the European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture and Heritage (AEPJ), and CEJI – A Jewish Contribution to an Inclusive Europe.
