Vandalism

Stanley Loop | Aug. 7, 9:37 a.m. — Deputies responded after a resident discovered the rear passenger-side window of a vehicle had been shattered. Investigators found no surveillance cameras in the area capable of capturing the incident.

Larceny

217 Garrisonville Road (Walmart) | Aug. 7, 2:28 p.m. — Two Stafford residents were arrested after loss prevention officers reported they returned to Walmart after previous shoplifting incidents. Deputies said the pair filled a shopping cart, paid for only selected merchandise, and left with unpaid items. Surveillance video and a vehicle license plate led deputies to their residence.

  • Demetrius Lyons-Carroll, 23, of Stafford was charged with two counts of shoplifting and released on a personal recognizance bond.
  • Azzareya Scarborough, 21, of Stafford was charged with three counts of shoplifting and released on a personal recognizance bond.

1090 Stafford Marketplace (Target) | Aug. 8, 4:24 p.m. — Deputies arrested Anthony Segovia, 18, of Stafford, after investigators linked him to multiple shoplifting incidents over several months. Authorities said Segovia admitted stealing merchandise and was charged with 12 counts of shoplifting. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.

Fraud

Wagoneers Lane | Aug. 7, 5:11 p.m. — A resident reported losing money in a Sheriff’s Office impersonation scam after receiving fake arrest warrants and being instructed to send Bitcoin to avoid arrest. The victim later recognized the scam, contacted the Sheriff’s Office and notified their bank.

Rollingside Drive | Aug. 7, 9:12 p.m. — A resident reported a Truist Bank impersonation scam after fraudsters claimed the victim’s accounts had been compromised. The victim was instructed to transfer money through Bitcoin and install remote access applications before realizing it was a scam.

Orange Blossom Court | Aug. 8, 7 a.m. — Deputies investigated an altered check after a mailed payment was intercepted, altered and cashed.

Independence Drive | Aug. 8, 12:24 p.m. — A resident reported unauthorized Amazon transactions. The bank canceled the compromised card.

Village Parkway | Aug. 8, 12:55 p.m. — Deputies investigated fraudulent bank transactions. The victim canceled the affected bank card.

Woodlot Court | Aug. 8, 2:07 p.m. — Another resident fell victim to a Sheriff’s Office impersonation scam after being told they missed jury duty and needed to send Bitcoin to avoid arrest. Deputies reminded residents law enforcement never demands payment to prevent arrest.

Driving Under the Influence

Woodstock Lane and Telegraph Road | Aug. 8, 12:26 a.m. — First Sgt. Demirci stopped a vehicle that was weaving between lanes. The driver and passenger showed signs of impairment, and deputies found multiple empty alcoholic beverage containers inside.

  • Mynor Guerra, 20, of Woodbridge was charged with driving under the influence, driving after illegally consuming alcohol, and drinking while operating a motor vehicle. He was held on a secured bond.
  • Joseph Otero Nunez, 18, of Stafford was charged with public intoxication and held until sober.

Wyche Road | Aug. 8, 3:03 a.m. — Deputies found a driver asleep at a traffic light. After field sobriety testing and a search, deputies recovered suspected narcotics.

  • Herbert Sorto, 30, of Fredericksburg was charged with driving under the influence and possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance.

Warrenton Road | Aug. 9, 8:28 p.m. — Deputies arrested Ricardo Garcia Cobix, 39, of Fredericksburg, after observing erratic driving and open alcoholic beverages inside his vehicle. He was charged with DUI, drinking while operating a motor vehicle, a lane violation, and failure to obey a traffic signal.

Narcotics

153 Garrisonville Road (Red Roof Inn) | Aug. 8, 11:26 a.m. — Deputies responding to a suspicious person complaint discovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside a hotel room.

Corey Riffe, 33, of Stafford, was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance. Authorities said he admitted ownership of the narcotics and paraphernalia.

Public Intoxication

594 Warrenton Road (Excel Inn & Suites) | Aug. 9, 8:22 a.m. — Deputies arrested Dorthy Lansdowne, 47, of Fredericksburg, after finding her asleep and highly intoxicated at the hotel. She was charged with public intoxication.

Assault

Garrison Woods Drive | Aug. 9, 5:35 p.m. — Deputies responded to a disturbance after an argument escalated into a physical altercation. Investigators said the suspect admitted striking the victim in the face.

Laretta McMillan, 44, of Stafford, was charged with assault and battery and released on a personal recognizance bond.
