AMC Global Media and newly established video game publisher Trailmark Games have officially announced The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival. Developed by Odaclick Game Studio, the title is a premium, single-player, retro-style side-scrolling arcade beat ’em up set within the universe of the mega-hit AMC television series.

According to CBR, there have been many The Walking Dead video game adaptations over the years. While a series about surviving against zombie hordes seems tailor-made for action titles, The Walking Dead has been at its best when it focuses on characters and storytelling, with the Telltale Games series featuring some of the greatest adventure games of all time.

The surprise was revealed alongside an official 39-second announcement trailer and a playable public demo on PC. According to the publisher’s official launch schedule, the full version of The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival is scheduled to launch worldwide in Fall 2026.

The game is being built for a wide, multi-platform release, with versions confirmed for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. 

The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival is a 2D brawler with a faux-pixel-art style. The players can take on the roles of iconic survivors such as Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and Michonne as they fight through Walkers using their fists, which, according to the series’ lore, is probably not a good idea. The players also have to fight through the walker-infested tunnels, devastated settlements, and hostile strongholds, all packed with explosive encounters.

The player has to face Alexandria’s most ruthless foes, the Saviors led by Negan, along with overwhelming waves of Walkers as they unleash crushing combos, signature weapon attacks, and devastating finishers in a relentless battle for survival. Luckily, they also come equipped with their iconic weapons, including Daryl’s crossbow, which can mow down enemies.

Moreover, the game is based on the events of the All Out War storyline, presented through a campaign that reimagines the Saviors conflict, featuring walkers, threats, and surprises drawn from across the world of AMC’s The Walking Dead. The player will be able to explore familiar environments from the show, which include the Sanctuary, Hilltop, and Alexandria, and it will be enhanced by dynamic set pieces, environmental hazards, and intense, story-driven moments.

The game features three iconic, legendary playable protagonists, each with a unique fighting style, stats, and signature abilities inspired by the series. Steam further stated on its official website, “Rick’s magnum, Michonne’s katana, and Daryl’s trusty crossbow are all ready for battle.”

The key features of the upcoming game include: 

• Hard-Hitting Arcade Beat ‘Em Up Combat: The players will be able to use brutal melee abilities, crowd-clearing ranged attacks, or a mix of the two in fast-paced skirmishes. They can further enjoy responsive, crisp, and satisfying fighting gameplay while exploring the apocalypse.

• Overwhelming Walker Swarms and Ruthless Enemies: The players can battle through creeping armies of the undead and dangerous members of The Saviors that force them to adapt, assess threats, and fight for every inch of ground.

• Face Iconic Bosses: Players can also take on powerful, fan-favorite walkers like Winslow, the Well Walker, and many more. The Saviors provide their own challenges as the player throws down with Negan and Simon in intense, multi-phase boss battles that test their skill, strategy, and survival instincts.

• Replayable Arcade Challenge: The players are able to master each of the characters’ movesets and tackle multiple difficulty levels in an experience built for repeat runs and escalating challenges. They can also jump in with an optional Easy Mode for casual play.

According to Steam, the developers of the game described the content: “This is a side-scrolling fighting game in which players control characters from The Walking Dead engaging in combat with human and nonhuman enemies. From a 2D perspective, the players use a variety of weapons as they progress through the game. There is frequent blood and gore.”

According to the official Steam Store Page, the minimum and recommended system requirements to run the PC version are incredibly accessible:

• Minimum OS: Windows 10 (64-bit) 
• Processor: Intel Core i3-2100 or AMD equivalent
• Memory: 8 GB RAM minimum
• Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 1000 Series or equivalent
• DirectX Version: Version 11 minimum
• Storage: Minimum 2 GB of available space

The release date, additional features, and other such information have yet to be officially announced by the developers. The game is expected to be released worldwide around Fall 2026.
