Co-directors double down on late 2027 release window.

Square Enix has released an extended version of the new Kingdom Hearts IV trailer that debuted alongside the game’s release window and Coco world reveal yesterday. 

As newly announced, Kingdom Hearts IV will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store in late 2027.

During the “Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts” panel at D23 2026, Kingdom Hearts IV co-director Tai Yasue, and co-director and series creator Tetsuya Nomura doubled down on the late 2027 release.

“As for Kingdom Hearts IV, I’d like to say that I want to thank everyone for their patience,” Yasue said. “At this year’s D23, we were finally able to announce a release date for Kingdom Hearts IV. I’m really excited about that as well. And I can confidently say, and promise, that it will launch in 2027. Schedule-wise, development is very smooth. It’s not like an 80 percent thing, 90 percent—it’s a 100 percent thing. So we’ll be there in 2027 for sure. I promise you that.”

Nomura added, “We announced that the game is going to be coming in late 2027, and I saw some people online saying that maybe the actual release date might still get pushed back. I just wanted to set the record straight: that is not happening. We are launching in 2027. So I hope that people look forward to the game coming in 2027. Marketing for the game has just begun, so I hope that people look forward to hearing more news as well.”
