Argos will no longer refer to its heavier deliveries as 'two-man' after receiving complaints that the term is sexist.

One Twitter user had written: 'Can you explain why you put up a '2 Man Delivery' sign in your brand new Lewisham shop?

'Do you only hire men to deliver heavy goods? It's a very outdated and insensitive phrase.'

Argos said: 'We updated our wording earlier this year to ensure we reflect the diverse communities we serve and colleagues we work with', The Sun reported.

Tory MP Nigel Mills told the paper: 'Surely there’s bigger things in the world right now to be worrying about. It’s woke madness.'

The news comes as NatWest announced plans to 'challenge the status quo' with new LGBT+-friendly employment policies from next month.

The bank's shared parental leave now includes same-sex couples. 

And the firm's absence and sick leave policy includes time off for those transitioning.

Earlier this year NatWest began issuing its staff with optional pronoun badges, prompting competitors to follow suit.

A spokesperson for NatWest told MailOnline: 'We value all our LGBT+ colleagues and customers and we want to have a truly open and diverse culture, with acceptance for all.'
