One of the most anticipated milestones for a college student is getting closer each day. The ceremonies, scheduled for May 15-17, will celebrate the accomplishments of each student, and recognize the hard work they put into their college career. 

Students are in the final stretch, finishing final assignments, concluding any graduation requirement, and organizing events with family and friends. 

Jesus Ramirez, started college in fall 2020, as it was the peak of the covid-19 pandemic. “It’s finally here,” Ramirez says, “ever since starting college after high school, and the pandemic starting, I didn’t know how to move in the website, it was confusing, as it was all new. I rebuilded everything that I missed, and finally got my two year degree.”

Ramirez is studying for graphic design, and plans to go to the workforce, and to stay a semester to work on the paper, and begin networking. 

Dallas College students have different plans, but they all support each other, one student can be studying to enter the work force, or another planning to transfer to a 4-year university to earn his bachelors. 

Robert Verdiguel is graduating from Eastfield with his Associates of arts “I feel accomplished, when I started college, I didn’t plan ahead,”Verdiguel says, “Around my second semester, I learned that I needed a plan in order to finish my degree at a good pace.” Verdiguel gave advice to students, and incoming students, to “register early for classes, and talk to an advisor to check on which classes you need to take”

Verdiguel is majoring in animation, starting in Fall 2026, at the University of Texas at Dallas. Recently having gone on a tour, Verdiguel is excited for the next stage of his life. 

For all students who are graduating, this is not your ending, but a new beginning. Seize all the opportunities that come your way, if you’re going to transfer, get a certificate, or enter the work force.
