He's slick, handsome and powerful.

But what really attracted Katy Perry to Justin Trudeau was far more cosmic, the Daily Mail can reveal.

'She's very into astrology,' a source told the Mail. 'Katy said he is a solid guy and she loves that he is an earth sign, a Capricorn.'

The pal added: 'She is a Scorpio, like a total typical Scorpio, so she is very driven and headstrong. So she likes having an earth sign as a boyfriend because it grounds her.'

Perry, 41, went public with her new relationship with the ex-Canadian Prime Minister, 53, at the weekend during a date in Paris.

The singer split from ex-fiance Orlando Bloom — who is also a Capricorn — earlier this year and 'Katy had been looking for a strong, older man to date who is also high profile,' the friend said.

'Justin is just the man for her. He fits her needs. She is thrilled,' added the source, who also noted she is 'happy' he's a politician and not another actor or musician — an apparent dig at Bloom.

'Orlando is also a Capricorn, that is why she was drawn to him initially, she loves a good Cap,' noted the pal 

Capricorns are born between December 22 and January 19. 

They are ruled by Saturn and are often characterized as being determined, practical, disciplined and hard-working.

Scorpios — whose birthdays are between October 23 to November 21 — are known for being passionate, intense, and loyal. 

The sign's ruling planet is Mars. Capricorns are earth signs, while Scorpios are water — complementary elements said to bring emotional depth and stability to each other.

Perry is said to be big into horoscopes and the super natural.

'It's like every day that girl is on Astrology Zone (a popular horoscope website), she has fun with it,' said the friend. 

The insider also noted that Perry is also into 'psychics, numerology, angel numbers, past life healers and Tarot cards.'

'Katy believes in past lives and she thinks she and Justin may have intersected in some way in a past life,' said the pal. 'Why not?'

While their romance might be new, the insider noted the relationship is already serious.

'There is no way she would go public with him unless it was a mega big deal,' the friend said.

'Yes, it is a mega big deal with Justin. Katy is very in love with Justin.'

And the couple are already planning to see more of each other next month while she continues her Lifetimes Tour.

'She wants him to meet her in Paris and Barcelona for her tour stops next month so they can have a romantic time when she's not on stage,' the same source said.

Perry will also be in Japan and the United Arab Emirates in December. 

Perry first teased romance with Trudeau earlier this month at a concert at London's The O2.

A fan jokingly proposed to her at the show, and she laughed and said: 'I wish you'd asked me 48 hours ago.'

She also joked about no longer falling for English men. Speaking to her fans, she said: 'London, England, you're like this on a Monday night after a whole day at work and a whole day at school?

'No wonder I fall for Englishmen all the time... but not anymore.'

Perry was famously married to Brit Russell Brand — a Gemini — and has also dated John Mayer, Diplo and Robert Ackroyd, as well as actor Johnny Lewis.

Trudeau served as the 23rd Prime Minister of Canada from 2015 until 2025, when he was ousted from office after a decade in power.

Trudeau led the Liberal Party from 2013 until stepping down following his election defeat in 2025.

He was married to 50-year-old Sophie Grégoire — a Pisces — for 18 years before the pair separated in 2023.
