Man exposes himself to women inside Pa. Dollar Tree, Michaels store, police say

A man who police said exposed himself and performed a lewd act inside a Bucks County Dollar Tree store is also accused of stalking a woman and exposing himself to another at a Michaels store.

Anthony Maurice Oates, 30, of Trenton, New Jersey, was involved in two separate incidents inside the Michaels store earlier in August, according to the criminal complaint obtained by NBC10 on Thursday.

On Aug. 4, 2026, a woman was shopping inside the Michaels store in Middletown Township, Pennsylvania, between 1:10 p.m. and 1:25 p.m. when she noticed a man – later identified as Oates – following her through different aisles, investigators said.
The woman told police Oates continued to follow her as she tried to change direction to lose him. The woman noticed Oates appeared to be touching his genitals, according to the criminal complaint. Feeling uncomfortable, the woman left the store, but Oates followed her into the parking lot, investigators said. As she entered her car, she noticed Oates standing 10 to 20 feet away, according to the criminal complaint. He then looked away once he realized the woman noticed him, officials said.
Resources for victims of sexual assault are available through the National Sexual Violence Resources Center and the National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline at 800-656-4673.
Police also said Oates was captured on surveillance video following the woman out of the store within three seconds.
The next day, on Aug. 5, a woman was shopping inside the Michaels around 3:10 p.m. when she noticed Oates following her, according to the criminal complaint.
As the woman was in one of the aisles, Oates stood about six feet from her, stared her in the eyes and exposed himself to her, investigators said. He then fled after the woman yelled for help, according to the criminal complaint.
Oates is charged with stalking, indecent exposure, open lewdness, disorderly conduct and harassment in connection to the incidents at Michaels, according to court records.

Oates was also allegedly involved in an incident at the Dollar Tree store in Falls Township on Aug. 4. During that incident, Oates grabbed himself and exposed himself while two women were in the same aisle, according to police.

Police are also searching for a person of interest after someone touched a 12-year-old girl inappropriately inside a Dollar Tree store in Prospect Park, Pennsylvania, on Aug. 3.
