Philadelphia Water Department closes South Street block for weekend work

One block of South Street will be closed this weekend while crews install water service connections, according to the Philadelphia Water Department.
The closure began at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, on South Street between South 33rd Street and Health Sciences Drive. The block is expected to reopen at 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
The following detours will be in place:
Westbound drivers will turn left on Health Sciences Dr, turn right on Convention Ave, turn right on 33rd St, then turn left back to South/Spruce St. 
Eastbound drivers will turn right on S 34th St, turn left on East Service Dr, left on Health Sciences Dr, then turn right back to South St.
