Mariana’s Supermarkets has unveiled the opening date for its newest store in Las Vegas.

The locally based Hispanic supermarket chain said on social media that it will hold a grand opening Aug. 1 for its new grocery store near the intersection of Flamingo and Pecos roads, in the eastern Las Vegas Valley.

The event starts at 9 a.m. and will feature specials, giveaways, live mariachi, and gifts for the first 500 guests, according to a post on Instagram.

“Be among the first to explore our biggest, most modern location yet—with more parking and, as always, #MásSavings,” it said.

The store, 3250 E. Flamingo Road, spans around 40,000 square feet.

Mariana’s recently closed its smallest store, on Eastern Avenue at Flamingo, and opted to move about a mile away to its now-biggest location, the former Food 4 Less space at Flamingo and Pecos.

Ruben Anaya, president and CEO of parent company Mariana’s Enterprises, said in an interview last month that the new spot will have a larger variety of items and more departments and services.

“It will be a more comfortable shopping experience,” he said.

Overall, the total cost of the new store’s build-out is around $5.5 million, he said.

The supermarket industry is a fiercely competitive business with thin profit margins. And in ever-growing Southern Nevada, specialty grocers such as Asian and Hispanic supermarkets have a sizable presence.

Mariana’s competitors include La Bonita Supermarkets, Cardenas Markets and El Super, all of which have several locations in the Las Vegas Valley.
