AEW Collision is back on Saturday night LIVE at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on TNT and HBO Max! The inaugural AEW Continental Challenge Cup begins tonight, with the single-elimination tournament running all the way to AEW All In: London on August 30, where the winner takes home the Continental Cup and the AEW Continental Championship at Wembley Stadium. 

Three first-round matches go down tonight on Collision. The Conglomeration’s Orange Cassidy collides with SkyFlight’s Matt Sydal, Jake Doyle of the Don Callis Family takes on the first Continental Champion, Eddie Kingston, and the latest showdown between the Death Riders and Bang Bang Gang will see Claudio Castagnoli battle Ace Austin.

Plus, the fallout from Hikaru Shida’s timely assistance in CMLL World Women's Champion Persephone's win over Kris Statlander at Grand Slam: Mexico will be felt tonight on Collision, as TBS Champion Maya World and Hyan step up against Persephone and Shida.

Matt Sydal returns to AEW singles action for the first time in over two years in a first-time match against Orange Cassidy as the Continental Challenge Cup gets underway. 

After losing the AEW World Trios Titles two weeks ago, The Conglomeration decided to test themselves in singles action as part of the Continental Challenge Cup. Meanwhile, Sydal looks to make a big statement for SkyFlight. Who advances to the quarterfinals on the road to Wembley?

With the blind draw in the Continental Challenge Cup, The Don Callis Family's resident bruiser, Jake Doyle, finds himself in a fight with the first-ever AEW Continental Champion, Eddie Kingston. 

Doyle, Brian Cage, and CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Hechicero are all representing the Callis Family in their never-ending quest for gold. However, they will not be able to help each other, as outside interference is strictly forbidden by Continental rules. Kingston won the only matchup between these two in NJPW back in July 2022, although Doyle has leveled up significantly since then. Can Doyle take the initial step toward his first AEW championship, or will Kingston prove there's a reason he was the first man to hold the AEW Continental Title?

The Death Riders and the Bang Bang Gang collide yet again when Claudio Castagnoli battles Ace Austin in first-round action tonight. Castagnoli and the Death Riders came up short against Austin and Bang Bang Gang on last week’s Collision. But this Continental Challenge Cup is all about what you can do on your own, and Castagnoli has a huge experience advantage in this ruleset as a veteran of all three Continental Classics. However, Austin is a fearless competitor who could cause Castagnoli some problems with his unique innovation. You won’t want to miss this high-stakes battle of different styles.

Persephone picked up a win over Kris Statlander at Grand Slam: Mexico, but only after Hikaru Shida blindsided Statlander with Thunder Rosa’s Mexican National Women’s Title to turn the tide. As medical personnel tended to Statlander after the match, TBS Champion Maya World and Hyan came out to run off Persephone and Shida. World beat Shida for the TBS Title at Redemption and successfully defended it for the first time against Persephone last week on Dynamite. Can World and Hyan replicate that success in tag-team action, or does the dangerous combination of Persephone and Shida strike again?
