1. "Robot vacuum cleaners. I spent $300 on what was the top seller three years ago. What a pain to get it unstuck, cleaned, programmed, etc. It takes me 20 minutes to vacuum my house with my Dyson and a lot more than that to fuss with the useless robot. I have offered it to six friends, and no one wants it."

2. "Universal Pictures' 'Dark Universe.' The Mummy with Tom Cruise was supposed to start a whole line of movies, but when that one died, it took the rest with it."

3. "Beanie Babies. The little bean bag, plush, stuffed animals from the '90s. People thought they would become incredibly valuable collectibles like the original Star Wars toys. Some people went nuts and spent all their money on the things. I remember hearing about a divorcing couple fighting viciously over the collection they'd amassed."

4. "Apple Vision Pro and Meta glasses. Far too expensive for a subpar product with safety and privacy concerns."

6. "MiniDiscs! My husband was really into them and not only had a portable player but one that connected to our sound system. It was great for making lengthy mixtapes, but MP3 players pretty much blew the MiniDisc tech away."

7. "Are Dippin' Dots still the ice cream of the future?"

"This slogan confused me SO MUCH as a kid. I literally thought we wouldn't have actual ice cream in the future. I would order them to try and get used to them and make sure I was ready for the switch."

8. "3D TV. I remember those being sold somewhere when we had to buy a couch, and we accidentally rented the 3D version of a movie. But it never took off."

10. "Back in the 1970s, a LOT of my friends and classmates got CB radios. They weren't over-the-road truckers; they'd use it to argue and gossip with the neighbors. Then they needed larger antennas and a filter to reduce interference with television signals. Why did they need all this equipment when they could just talk on the phone? Within a few months, most of them had abandoned this fad. A few who were really into it had graduated to ham radios. By about 1980, I never heard anyone mention CB radios again."

11. "Juicero. Was going to be the Keurig of fresh-squeezed juice, but the 'pods' were proprietary bags with a full glass's worth of specially diced fruit, and the machine would squeeze them."

13. "Pepsi Blue. I tried it once and really liked it, but no one bought it, so it vanished overnight."

14. "Lytro. It was a light-field camera that let you adjust a picture's focus after taking the image. It had a cool design and neat features, capturing an Apple-like aesthetic of form and function. Huge failure, but I was obsessed with them for a while."

15. "Back in the late '80s, I told my family Betamax was better than VHS (and it was), but VHS won out, and my entire family hated me because they all finally had to buy VHS machines."

—Anonymous

16. "Modern Disney Junior. We went from comedic adventures with a touch of romance to a group of stereotypical characters who are way too cheesy."

—Anonymous, 31, Canada

And finally...
17. "Orbitz — those drinks with little edible balls suspended in them. Late '90s, and there were several brands like them."
