Lam Research Korea held the finals of the Lam Research Robo Challenge, the company said August 14. The official company name is Lam Research, and its Korean operation is Lam Research Korea.

The Lam Research Robo Challenge is a robotics education and hands-on program for high school students hosted and organized by Lam Research Korea and Social Cooperative Seedcoop, with support from the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity (KOFAC). The program is designed to help students understand basic robot structures and operating principles and gain direct experience in building and controlling robots. Its goal is to develop future talent for the manufacturing and robotics industries as they rapidly adopt artificial intelligence (AI)-based technologies. KOFAC confirms Lam Research Korea as the host and Seedcoop as the organizer of the 2026 program.

The finals were held August 13 at the International Conference Hall of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul. High school students who advanced through preliminary rounds in five regions — southern and northern Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Jeolla and Gyeongsang — gathered for the competition.

At the finals, students used their own code to complete robot missions. They repeatedly modified their code and tested their robots to achieve the best possible results within a set time limit. Through trial and error, students worked to identify solutions, developing problem-analysis, creative problem-solving and logical-thinking skills.

Students also had an opportunity to interact with one another. They shared their interests and visions regarding technology and careers in robotics, AI and semiconductors.

Science communicator Gwe Do gave a special lecture titled “A New World to Be Opened by Robots, AI and Semiconductors.” He introduced how advances in AI and robotics are changing industry and everyday life, as well as the semiconductor technologies underpinning those developments.

Joon Park, president of Lam Research Korea, said the students who reached the Robo Challenge finals were “a generation that will create future technologies, rather than simply consume them.” Lam Research Korea will continue supporting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education programs to help future talent use science and technology to change the world, he said. Lam Research identifies Park as the head of its Korean operations.

In addition to the Lam Research Robo Challenge, Lam Research Korea participates in talent-development programs including the Memory Academy and the WISET Global Mentoring program. In cooperation with the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA) and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), it also operates semiconductor process-design training and a Tech Academy for university students and job seekers based on its Semiverse Solutions platform. Semiverse Solutions is a digital-twin platform developed by Lam Research.
