Macworld Podcast: Folding phones and the iPhone Ultra

Дата публикации: 14-08-2026 11:00:00

Macworld

We are weeks away from the unveiling of what is likely to be called the iPhone Ultra, Apple’s first major change tot he iPhone form factor in ages and first folding phone ever. We’ve got our video product Adam Patrick Murray (who fans of The Full Nerd will recognize) filling in for Roman on vacation, and he’s the perfect match because he’s been a fan of, and using, folding Android phones for years now.
While on the topic of advanced new iPhones, we bring up the 20th Anniversary iPhone expected to release next fall, when the iPhone turns 20. A financial analyst reported that the project had been cancelled, and a day later Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman (the most reliable source for unannounced Apple products) published an article to specifically refute that, saying it’s still on track.
We answer a few reader emails, too.

I’ve noticed on the show that you’ve mentioned a couple of times that you can’t develop apps on an iPad. That’s not quite right! The Swift Playgrounds app lets you create apps and share them on the App Store.

It’s interesting that the 7” home hub is supposed to recognize and adapt to faces when Apple still refuses to allow multiple account on iPads. Do you think this will be specific to the “HomeHubOS” or do you think Apple will roll out multiple accounts to iPadOS as well?
Regarding Apple Home, the answer to 90% of the home automation problems discussed is Home Assistant.
