Meghan Markle turned heads with her elegant style during a guest appearance on MasterChef Australia, stepping out in a sophisticated all-black ensemble that paid tribute to Australian fashion.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, appeared as a guest judge on Sunday night's episode of the hit Channel Ten cooking competition, where she joined the judges to sample dishes from the finalists.

While viewers were captivated by the tense kitchen showdown – and an unexpected FaceTime call from her husband Prince Harry – Meghan's polished outfit quickly became another talking point.

The former Suits actress chose to showcase Australian designers for the occasion, wearing a $525 black silk blouse by Matteau paired with a sleek $650 black skirt from Camilla and Marc.

She completed the timeless look with a pair of classic $900 black Manolo Blahnik pumps, keeping her accessories understated and wearing her signature loose waves, while revealing why she chose an ensemble from Australian designers. 

'I love being able to wear local designers and celebrate the craftsmanship that's happening in whatever region I'm traveling to,' Meghan recently told Australian Woman's Weekly. 

Meghan looked glamorous in the monochrome ensemble, with the tailored silhouette reflecting her typically understated style.

Her hair was softly styled and ultimately created a coordinated look for her television appearance.

Meghan's MasterChef Australia appearance was filmed in April and marked one of the biggest television moments of her Australian visit, with Meghan admitting she was thrilled to be part of the beloved cooking competition.

'Food and cooking to me is really a love language,' she said ahead of the episode.

'I think it's such a great way to connect. It's something that can feel sentimental and meaningful... it's how I show my nurturing and love for my friends, family and kids.'

During the program, Meghan paid a glowing compliment to finalist Petro Papathomas, praising his celeriac ice cream dessert featuring pickled apples and a hazelnut crumb. 

'The execution is beautiful. To be that creative and courageous, to make something new, you did it! It feels very Michelin star to me,' Meghan gushed to Pedro, who had one of the best desserts on the night, and advanced to the Semi-Finals.

Meghan was seen applauding Pedro's hard work and then telling the fellow judges, 'Oh my gosh, I have loved it! I can't wait to go back to the hotel and tell Harry all about it!' 

Elsewhere on the show, Meghan revealed her husband Harry's favourite meal.

She was asked by series judge Jean-Christophe Novelli what her preferred dish was to cook for her husband and their two children - Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five. 

The former Suits actress admitted it was a 'tough' decision to make given the different taste preferences in her famous family. 

'It's a tough one because I have a lot of palates to appease. My husband, being from the UK, loves a lot of meat, potatoes, cream sauce,' Meghan began.

'As a California girl, I like a grilled fish, grilled meats, citrus. I just like using lots of really pure natural herbs and spices. I like heat in my food, anything with spices.'

She revealed that her love of spicy food was shared by her husband.

'He can handle a really good curry! We just do a lot of barbecues, whatever is seasonal. The kids are great eaters, we are very lucky on that front,' she said.

Meghan then went on to proudly boast that both her young children enjoy eating Brussels sprouts.
