Discover what IE University’s undergrad experience entails through real student perspectives.

Every student’s experience is different, but the most memorable ones have one thing in common: the influence they have on your whole life. In the people you meet, the opportunities you pursue and the direction your career ultimately takes, the right school won’t just shape your resume: it will transform how you see the world and position you for long-term success.

When studying at IE University, learning extends far beyond the classroom. You might spend one day working on a group project with peers from around the world. The next, you could be networking with industry professionals, tackling a real business challenge, exploring a historical site in Spain or sharing a hobby you’re passionate about in a student club.

It’s this combination of academic rigor, practical experience and global community that helps our bachelor’s students graduate ready to launch meaningful careers. In fact, the latest Career Report shows that our alumni work in prime locations around the world, making an impact across a wide range of industries.

But what does the experience really feel like? There’s no substitute for the insight of people who’ve lived it, so we spoke to three undergraduate students who have taken different paths through IE University. Their stories offer a firsthand look into what it’s really like to study here, and why their experiences continue to shape their futures.

A global community that expands your perspective

“IE University is incredibly international,” says Tania Sofía Macías, a Bachelor in Behavior & Social Science student currently in her fourth year. Besides the constant exposure to people with unique backgrounds and perspectives, she’s found that being part of such a diverse cohort has helped her make new friends and form meaningful connections. “Everyone is far from home and genuinely interested in learning from one another,” she explains. “It creates a special sense of community that I really value.”

“Everyone is here with the same mindset. Students genuinely want to build relationships, learn from others, and support each other’s growth, which makes networking feel much more authentic and approachable.”
– Tania Sofía Macías

With over 160 nationalities represented across our community, cultivating a global mindset is easy here. Every class or collaboration becomes an opportunity to explore an idea or way of doing things, which you might not have considered before.

This deep cultural awareness translates well in many professional contexts today, where teams are increasingly multinational and day-to-day operations routinely cross borders. The numbers prove it: our 2025 graduates work in 55 countries worldwide, with 50% stationed outside their country of origin.

Learning goes far beyond the classroom

Tania recognizes the value she’s already received from traditional lectures and the hands-on projects that are just a part of her program. But she insists that some of her biggest learning moments have happened outside class, too.

Her participation in the IE Debate Club and IE Public Speaking Club is a great example. The experience has sharpened her confidence, refined her leadership skills and taught her how to find common ground with people from different cultures and worldviews.

Such student-led clubs meet regularly throughout the week. With over 150 currently in operation, you’ll find something for every hobby or interest. Coupled with labsadvanced seminarsinternational exchanges and competitions, learning is just as dynamic outside the classroom as it is inside it.

Building skills employers actually look for

That said, the real question is, can you also excel in the real world of work? IE University’s unique combination of theory and practice pushes students to bridge academics with career readiness from day one.

For Dual Degree in Business Administration + International Relations student Adrien Keitelman, the goal was to understand how global institutions work and, ultimately, find work in an NGO. Enhancing his business acumen was an additional plus.

“IE University offers outstanding support in terms of career preparation. I knew that having a foundation in business theory would be useful, even if I didn’t end up pursuing a business career.”
– Adrien Keitelman

What he didn’t expect was how much of an advantage his dual degree would offer. On one hand, his international relations studies strengthened his critical thinking and awareness of global affairs. Meanwhile, the business side gave him agility, insights into consumer behavior, leadership and problem-solving abilities, and soft skills like communication and teamwork; all of which are becoming increasingly valuable to recruiters and employers.

Learning multiple ways of thinking has been another unexpected asset, as it’s pushed him to “feel comfortable and confident in high-stakes situations.”

Educated by professors who open doors

Learning from faculty who know what today’s employers want is a big reason why undergrads develop work-ready skills. Since professors are both scholars and active practitioners in their fields, they’re able to offer real expertise, current industry insights and access to industry leaders within their own professional networks. Industry leaders like Wes Gordon, the celebrated Creative Director of Carolina Herrera.

That’s been a standout element of the bachelor’s experience for Dual Degree in Business Administration + Fashion Design student Belén Scheggia, wh is now almost in her third year. “Our professors are immersed in big industries and big brands, and some run their own labels. So, you’re learning from people who are not only successful but genuinely intelligent and generous with what they know.”

“It’s a school known and respected for business, so pairing that reputation with a creative degree carries real weight.”
– Belén Scheggia

The result is steady guidance and mentorship you can trust every day of your bachelor’s degree. It makes a real difference in how you find and approach opportunities both during and after the program.

Gaining experience and connection across two unforgettable cities

Recently, Belén got the chance to showcase her first collection at the annual IE Runway Fashion Show. “It shaped my journey in the program because it’s the closest thing to actually living the fashion industry: the stress, the work, the dedication and those final minutes before the show,” she says. “That feeling is something you carry with you far beyond the show itself.”

The event, held in Segovia, allowed her to present her creations to an eclectic audience of fellow students, professors, the wider IE Community and notable industry pros, getting more eyes on our students’ work.

Opportunities like these highlight the school’s blend of classroom learning with immersive, hands-on projects. It also lets undergrads appreciate the difference between Madrid’s fast-paced, cosmopolitan energy and Segovia’s historic, laid-back vibe—only 30 minutes apart via high-speed train.

IE Talent & Careers facilitates more unique networking opportunities throughout the school year, from weekly guest speakers to career fairs, internships and visits to top companies across industries. “That way, meeting other professionals becomes something very natural rather than intimidating,” adds Tania.

Where can an IE University education take you?

These holistic experiences mold impactful professionals. The 2025 Career Report shows that 96% of graduates report they were working within six months of completing their programs. They joined over 530 companies across finance, consulting, technology, retail, entrepreneurship and other industries.

Behind every career outcome is a journey shaped by what you choose to embrace. If you’re like Tania, this means finding a strong sense of community and building an international network. Or, like Adrien, it could be about combining disciplines to sharpen your competitive edge.

Alternatively, like Belén, it could help you turn passion into real-world experience with the help of professors and industry connections. No matter your path, the experiences you have during your bachelor’s degree at IE University become the foundation for what’s next.

Depending on your program, you can expect to take on any one of a huge number of roles, or start planning for your MBA or other advanced degrees to unlock even more opportunities.

As Tania says, “If you make the most of it, IE University is the kind of place that doesn’t just give you a degree. It genuinely changes the way you think, the people you surround yourself with and the opportunities you believe are possible for yourself.”
