He said that besides giving his sister a month-long bereavement leave, the company bore 20% of her father’s medical expenses. After her father died, the chairman of the company personally checked in on her.

Coimbatore firm’s kindness

“My sister works for a traditional company that was built out of Coimbatore,” Babuurajan revealed.

“Here's what her company did after she lost her dad last week: Beared 20% of the medical expenses; Gave her over 4 weeks of leave; The chairman personally messaged to check in on her,” he added.

The founder of Epic Slope Partners further revealed that the company has over 4,000 employees. Writing in praise of family-led businesses that take care of their employees, he said: “Mind you, the company has existed for 50+ years, exports to 40+ countries, and has over 4,000 employees. No wonder our parents were so loyal to their employers.”

Company earns praise

Although Babuurajan did not identify the company in his X post, people in the comments section praised the company’s kindness towards employees.

“Very impressed to know that the employer really cares for the employee,” wrote one person in the comments section.

“After working for about 16 years in corporate, I can say family owned businesses are better than so-called professionally managed businesses,” another said.

“We mock family-owned companies as Lala companies, but I've heard many stories of the owners taking good care of employees in their time of need,” a third person agreed.

Some got nostalgic for better times. “Those days are long gone. Large companies gave out pensions, they had cheaper guest houses for their employees if they wanted to go on holidays. The concept of Mass Layoffs did not exist. They had a simple canteen, nothing fancy. In this new age of fancy offices, unlimited bagels always come back to bite in the form of Mass Layoffs,” a user said.
