A man fatally shot his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself early Saturday, police said.

At approximately 3:28 a.m., the Metropolitan Police Department received a report of a domestic disturbance at a house in the 5000 block of Haystack Drive between Carmel and San Rafael avenues in the southeast Las Vegas Valley, according to a Metro news release.

As patrol officers arrived, the news release said, they attempted to enter the home after hearing a possible gunshot coming from inside the house.

Once inside, the officers found a man and a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.

“Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives determined a male killed his girlfriend and then shot himself,” the news release said. “This is an ongoing investigation.”
