We are having very good discussions,” Trump told Fox News late Tuesday. “The Strait of Hormuz is going to be open very soon. If they back out again, they are going to get hit really hard.”Oil prices fell and Asian stocks rose Wednesday following Trump’s statements.Meanwhile, the United States, Iran and Oman were nearing a potentially 60-day interim agreement to reopen the strait that Washington is seeking to announce Wednesday, Axios reported. The arrangement could also revive ceasefire and nuclear negotiations.Iran, however, continued to dispute Trump’s portrayal of direct US-Iran talks. REUTERS/Thaier Al-Sudani/ File Photo Turkey’s ruling alliance has submitted legislation to parliament on Wednesday facilitating the disbandment of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and allowing thousands of former militants and civilians to return from northern Iraq.The PKK has fought against Turkey for Kurdish self-rule inside the country since 1984, and is considered a terrorist organization by Ankara, Washington and the European Union. The militant group announced a unilateral ceasefire last year as part of ongoing peace talks between the Turkish government and its leader, Abdullah Ocalan.The law would set conditions for militants’ reintegration into society. The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and its nationalist ally, the Nationalist Movement Party, have signed the proposal, while the pro-Kurdish People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM), the main opposition party and most others have expressed support. AKP parliamentary group leader Abdullah Guler said the bill would be formally introduced Wednesday, and lawmakers are expected to approve the framework this week. Turk said he was alarmed by the increase in executions and death sentences, accusing Tehran of using capital punishment to suppress dissent and intimidate the population. More than 100 others face possible execution on similar charges, while executions for drug offenses are continuing at an “alarming rate,” he added.
