Two men are facing felony charges in a string of sophisticated home invasions targeting homes in Henderson.

Yusuf Tahir Scott, 32, and Leonte Mcclay, 26, each face more than a dozen felonies including burglary, home invasion, grand larceny, and theft more than $100,000, according to a Henderson Police Department arrest report.

Police said homeowners reported at least seven burglaries unfolding at homes in the city from January through March. The addresses of the residences burglarized were redacted in a police report, but some unfolded in the Seven Hills community.

Several involved break-ins through sliding glass doors with the power being turned off at the homes.

One homeowner reported some $41,000 in jewelry, watches and handbags stolen. Another homeowner reported some $71,000 in jewelry and $10,000 in cash stolen. A homeowner told police a safe in his residence that had been bolted to the floor was removed, leaving only the bolts sticking out of the floor.

Police said they identified Scott and Mcclay as suspects after conducting an extensive investigation that relied on undercover surveillance and warrants for phone records. Police also said images obtained by automated license plate readers helped identify a vehicle used in the crimes.

Scott was previously arrested on suspicion of murder in California and has a conviction for voluntary manslaughter in the state. Mcclay has prior arrests in Nevada on charges of child abuse, sex trafficking a child under 18 and kidnapping with prior arrests in California on charges of burglary and robbery, police said.

Both Scott and Mcclay are scheduled to appear in Henderson Justice Court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 25. They are each in custody at the Clark County Detention Center.
